Majority of martial arts schools have difficulty in generating leads because they are still stuck doing marketing the old-fashioned way. The old method of walking around and handing out VIP passes, or going door-to-door advertising, or handing out flyers. It’s time to put behind you the antiquated ways, and start to implement new ways to collect leads and bring attention to your dojo.
The first strategy to generate leads is paid social media ads. This is a step you must be willing to take, or else you risk being left behind in the dust by only relying on walk-ins or referrals. Predicting your growth and income is going to be very hard if you do not have predictable leads and predictable months. Otherwise, having a rollercoaster of a month will greatly hinder your progress while trying to scale to 7 figures. Hence the first tip is to invest in Facebook ads or Instagram ads. An important point to keep in mind for this is that you need to have a measure of how much you will be paying for your leads. So the first thing that needs to be done is to calculate your cost of acquisition based off of the entire process of acquiring that customer and all the while taking into consideration your budget and preferences. Social media ads should be your number one resource in 2022 for marketing.
The second strategy is utilizing your own social media platforms to generate leads. You cannot expect your existing students to do the marketing for you, spreading the word is something you need to do yourself. For that you need to first figure out where the majority of the people are at, are they on Facebook, or on Instagram, or on Tiktok? For example, on Tiktok, you need to make short videos that are entertaining yet educational. Posting regularly, engaging with people on social media, growing your network of influence on your social media platforms is the way to go about it. Thus the second key is leveraging your authority on social media.
The final strategy is to be well branded or well known as a local authority. It is important to get into the business networks in order to get your name known and put yourself as the face of the business in the local community. You need to make sure people in your area are recommending you in groups online at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. One of the things you can do is posting to your business profile and announcing things that are coming up, making sure the word spreads, in order to gather the attention of the local authorities (the news channels, for example) who will further help you spread the word. The goal is to establish your local authority and your credibility in your area, and continue perpetuating that.
